Roulette – strange facts Stranger than fiction, although joseph jagger did not give a hoot

Since roulette’s discovery in the 18th century in France, and the madness which follows it across the universe, many bizarre facts have been documented, and some, regaled from word of mouth. Let us peruse a few of the more insane ones.

  • Roulette has been dubbed over the years as the ‘Devil’s Game’. Two more well known reasons are first, the founder, Francois Blanc ‘sol’ his soul to the Devil to acquire the elusive enigma of Roulette. A more palpable reason is that in the game of Roulette, the accumulative numbers are 666.
  • Patents on any kind of gambling (including Roulette of course) is strictly prohibited in the Unites States (ain’t life grand).
  • Tens of millions people play Roulette either online or at casinos in a day.
  • Some claim that Roulette was invented by the Chinese, others are adamant it was first concocted by Venetia monks. However Francois Blanc seemed to have his cake and eat it too, with much relish I presume.
  • Despite many people contemplating suicide at Roulette, the game has the easiest rules which even your pet can learn.
  • The American Roulette has 38 numbers, inclusive of ‘0’, ‘00’ and 36, whereas European Roulette only has ‘0’ to 36.
  • In Roulette, there exists about 11 ways to make bets. (Relieved yet?)
  • The ‘0’ wheels on Roulette was invented for one purpose only – to magnify the House’s odds at winning. (still want play)
  • Undoubtedly, Roulette is the pioneer of all casino games, hence the glamour and old-school factor.
  • Many Roulette players avoid the green colored chip because it is thought to be cursed.
  • There are hundreds of Roulette strategy systems that many go crazy disseminating them all.
  • Many Roulette players believe that placing bets on numbers that have appeared is considered a bad omen.
  • Every Roulette system has critical flaws, yet millions of people still purchase them in the hopes of winning big (talk about delusions of grandeur)
  • One can never win playing Roulette with a computer. Face it, it knows all the odds, and you are sadly mistaken to even hope to come close, let alone win.
  • Whether American or European roulette, although the latter has been said to even out the odds better, beating the House is highly improbable.
  • Some players use their ‘magic’ intuition by predicting which number will appear. Not going to happen Mr. Clairvoyant.
  • Roulette is a game of random. Just because you’ve hit the same number twice does not mean it will occur again. That was just blind luck.

In retrospect, if you’ve had several winning hands, collect your chips, cut your losses, and move on to something more docile, like the slot machines.

Or go treat yourself to one of those gargantuan steaks that will cost your whole winnings anyway.

Good luck, and hopefully, the malevolent muses peeping out of celestial keyholes from Don Unber are not gleefully planning your next gambling debauchery.
